About the workshop
Daniel Fitzpatrick, Master Craftsman
Historic Joinery Yorkshire is a heritage joinery workshop at Crossley Mills in Honley, near Holmfirth, run by master craftsman Daniel Fitzpatrick. Daniel has worked as a woodturner and bench joiner for over 30 years and is a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen.
He personally oversees every job, from the first inspection to installation, and there is no charge for his advice.
Why it matters
Keeping dying trades alive
Traditional techniques like woodturning and cabinetmaking are dying trades. Daniel is one of the few remaining masters of these crafts, and the workshop exists to keep that knowledge alive and pass it on.
Timber in old buildings decays and gets damaged over time, but most of it can be saved. We restore woodwork so it blends in with the original features, or make replacements by hand on the original profile when a part is beyond repair.
Our membership of the Guild of Master Craftsmen reflects the standard of our woodturning and bench joinery. To us, quality means meeting each customer's needs. Testimonials are available on request.
Sustainability
Reclaimed and FSC-certified timber
We make our joinery in house from locally sourced reclaimed wood and ecologically friendly timber. When we need new timber, we aim to use wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
What we make should last a lifetime or more if it is cared for. It can be repaired or renovated when needed, and workshop waste is recycled.
